How to start a remote session 

 

Using a web browser (preferably Internet Explorer), navigate to the following URL – https://lara.GOFFS.herts.sch.uk 

If see the message “This webpage wants to run the following add-on: ‘Microsoft Remote Desktop Web Access Con…” click the “Allow” button 

Login with your school network credentials (as per the example below)




Username MUST be prefixed like this:
GOFFS\'Username'



You will be presented with the following screen. Click on ‘School Desktop’  

 

 

You should then see a pop-up windows similar to the example below. Click ‘Connect’  

 

 

You will be prompted to re-enter your login credentials once more, however you will need to prefix your username with GOFFS\ which is the schools ‘domain name’ 

  • For exampleUsernameGOFFS\jbloggs 

Password**********

Part 2 – Functionality whilst connected to the Remote Desktop 

 

Below is an example of the desktop you will see, once logged in: 

 

 

 

 

 

Clicking on ‘File Explorer’ will give you access to mapped drives/shared areas, as well as the users own documents folder.

Clicking on the ‘Windows’ icon on the taskbar will bring up the Start Screen where some shortcuts are accessible 

 

 

 

Clicking on the down arrow at the bottom of the page will bring up the entire Start Menu, where shortcuts for any additional programs/features will be. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When you have finished, please ensure that you save any open work and then close down the session correctly by clicking ‘Log Off’ (either from the desktop or the Start Screen). 

 

 

 

Finally, you will need to sign out from the LARA webpage by clicking the ‘Sign Out’ button shown below:
